3.6-mile run / hike in Northwest Park between raindrops.

Drove to visit the folks, made taco's for us.

Picked up the Seagull Guitar on the way back home.

Also on this day in 2006, I completed a Metacomet Marathon with my dog Tippi;  it was just us.  

By 2005, most of my running turned toward exploring and mapping routes through the forest of Western Massachusetts and North Central Connecticut, with an emphasis on picking out ways to connect big tracks of land, and turn them into runs of marathon length.

This run began in Sunrise Park, Suffeld, Connecticut and flowed south through Penwood State Forest in Bloomfield and Simsbury, Connecticut.  

We spent 6:27:00 completing a little over 28-miles or so.  

This was my 31st marathon completed, and Tippi's 7th. 

Notes:  A great day;  started out 50 degrees at the 9:45 A.M. start time.  I believe it reached 70 degrees during the day, with most of it in the mid to upper 60’s.  Sunny and blue sky entire time, with a bit of a nice breeze every once and a while.

Somewhere between sophomore and junior years of high school, a group of friends formed Midnight Hollow.

Basically, the ABCD Band evolved a bit with a new drummer and guitarist-vocalist.

Our first performance was at a Youth Center Dance at the Junior High.

We played several sets, I can remember performing (a limited memory at this point but I recall we played close to thirty different songs):

Full Day visit with my folks, including a nice lunch from Pedrins Dairy Bar.

Followed up with a 5.6-mile run on the Shenipsit Trail into Tolland (mostly road, paved and dirt).

Early Evening drive to Gran-Val Scoop with DL.

Walk Lily once in  the evening, 1-mile. 

Bike to work this morning - coldish (30's).

Back to PT for the right ankle/heal/achilles (#2).

Bicycle home from work, 5.5-miles.

Drove out to see the folks today - excellent visit.

Stopped at Williamsburg Woodland Trails "Horse Mountain" and "White Rocks" trail network to finally run in Hatfield (the trails cross into Hatfield). Managed a great 6.3-miles.

Old Marathon News...

I was fortunate to run the 100th Boston Marathon on this day in 1996. 

It was my 10th marathon completed, in a time of 3:24:14.

Bike to work in the morning, 5.5-miles.

Bicycle to and from work, 5.5-miles each way.

11.0-miles total.

What Played in Ed's Head -- 

Music listened to for the time-period March 1st through March 31st, 2023:

After Easter Dinner with DL and some household tasks, I took a trail run in Bloomfield and Simsbury at Laurel Hill and the Frederick C. Bidwell Forest Area, with a bit of Metacomet (New England Trail) thrown in.

Rambled through most of the trail system but missed a few sections.

Finished with 3.9-miles on the trail.

Walked Lily for 1-mile late afternoon.

The Old Goat picked me up for a pair of reasons...

We needed to gps the tee's and basket's at a disc golf course he is involved with in Orange, MA.

I figured since we would be in an area where I had some town's to run in, we could snag a 6-mile jog through some sort of wooded area I had never been in before.

Success with both events.  Ran first on the bank of the Quabbin through a portion of New Salem and Petersham for 6.1-miles.

Completed the field work at the Disc Golf Course easily enough after the run.

Drove out to Hoosick Falls, New York with DL to meet my folks for our beef pickup.

Made it to Wilcox Park after work just before dark, and managed a run to the ridge before any rain set in.

Total of 3.9-miles.

2023 Unsupported "Non" Trail Race Unofficial Challenge #8

Hartford Reservoirs 12.9-Km (8-Miler)

Picked up the Metacomet (the New England Trail) at Route 44, just below Hartford Reservoir #6, and headed south past Reservoirs #2 and #3 along the NET.

Knocked off a Town I hadn't previously run in (Farmington), and snapped some photos at Kilkenny Rocks which were really neat.

Ended with 7.9-miles on the gps, easily under 2 hrs (averaged 4.5 mph according to the device).

More exploring in Marion Wilcox Park today.

Rambled north this time, and ended with an identical 3.6-miles.
