On this day in 1998, my Pop and I completed the 1st Greylock Centennial Marathon in Adams, Massachusetts.  Our time was 6:55:38.  

This was a very difficult course, with 5 lengthy climbs.  

The heat didn't help much either, if I remember correctly.

This was my 19th marathon completed, and my dad's first.

I visited Mom and Pop today!

While on the Drive to my visits, I stopped off at the fairly new parking area off South County Rd above the Dead Man's Curves on Route 2 (Mohawk Trail), for the Mohican Mohawk Trail X'ing.

This has been a Great Marathon Day in my History! 

Two completed marathons on this day in my past!

In 2001, I completed my 25th marathon at Nipmuck, in 4:27:17.  

This was a 35th place, and my 5th completed Nipmuck.

Then, on this day in 2012, Wuzzam, Tippi and I completed a Tunxis Marathon in 6:26:10.  

This was my 47th Marathon, and Tippi's 16th.

Marisa Anderson at the Space Ballroom (Front Room), 295 Treadwell Street, Hamden, CT 06514.

J Evil and I attended the Marisa Anderson show with roughly 35 or so others at the Front Room of the Space Ballroom.  I believe five compositions were played from Anderson's latest project, "The Anthology Of Unamerican Folk Music (Vol. 1)".  Each song performed throughout the evening was explained to the audience, its background, inspiration, and meaning.  Excellent Show!

On this day in 1998, I completed the my 4th Nipmuck Marathon in 4:28:33, a 41st placement.  

This was my 20th finished marathon.

Also on this day, in 2009, I completed my 7th Nipmuck Marathon in 4:37:03 (19th place).  

This was my 42nd marathon overall.

Despite not having agriculture or even ceramics, those people built North America's 2nd largest pyramid-mound.

.Willie James "Blood" Ulmer (February 8, 1940 – June 3, 2026) was an American jazz, free funk and blues guitarist and singer. He played a Gibson Byrdland guitar. His guitar sound has been described as "jagged" and "stinging". Ulmer's singing has been called "raggedly soulful".

Willie James Ulmer was born in St. Matthews, South Carolina, United States on February 8, 1940.  He began his career playing with soul jazz ensembles, first in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from 1959 to 1964, and then in the Columbus, Ohio, area from 1964 to 1967. After moving to New York in 1971, Ulmer played with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, Joe Henderson, Paul Bley, Rashied Ali, and Larry Young.

In the early 1970s, Ulmer joined Ornette Coleman; he was the first electric guitarist to record and tour extensively with Coleman. He has credited Coleman as a major influence. Coleman's reliance on electric guitar in his fusion-oriented recordings owes a debt to Ulmer.

His appearance on Arthur Blythe's two consecutive Columbia albums, Lenox Avenue Breakdown (1979) and Illusions (1980), was followed by Ulmer's signing to that label. That resulted in three albums: Free Lancing, Black Rock, and Odyssey, which was the inaugural release of Odyssey The Band with drummer Warren Benbow and violinist Charles Burnham. The trio was called "avant-gutbucket" by music critic Bill Milkowski to describe the music as "conjuring images of Skip James and Albert Ayler jamming on the Mississippi Delta."

Ulmer formed Music Revelation Ensemble around 1980, co-led with David Murray for the first decade and lasting into the 1990s. Later versions of the band included Arthur Blythe, Sam Rivers, Pharoah Sanders, and John Zorn. 

In the 1980s he co-led the quartet Phalanx with saxophonist George Adams. Ulmer has recorded as a leader, including blues-oriented albums produced by Vernon Reid: Memphis Blood, No Escape from the Blues, Bad Blood in the City, and Birthright.
