2nd Covered Bridge Snowshoe Races
February 28th, 2004 - Greylock Glen - Adams, MA

PH and I continued organizing events at the Glen, using the Gould Covered Bridge as part of the route.

We had an 8-Mile "Covered Bridge" event, and a 3.5-Mile "Hoxie_Thunderbolt" option.  Everyone took off together on the Hoxie-T Bolt section, and when back at the Gazebo you could continue with the Covered Bridge Race or stop with a Hoxie-Thunderbolt finish.

Interestingly, when my Pop got the gazebo, and was asked if he was continuing, he turned the question around and asked "how many have stopped?"  When told none, he said "I'm done".  It would be his first and only snowshoe overall race win!

I managed to finish 5th out of 36 finishers in the long race, and we had 29 complete the short version.

Additionally, two course markers completed the route on the previous Monday.

5th Annual Greylock Glen 5km Snowshoe Race
January 17th, 2004 - Adams,  Massachusetts

Race Directing duties with PH at the fifth Greylock Glen Snowshoe Race at the Mount Greylock State Reservation, in the Adams Glen...

This was another cold one, even for the Glen.  Around 28 degrees.  As usual, my Pop and I got there really early with PH, to set up the tarps and cooking equipment, get the registration going inside the gazebo.

After the registration duties, I stood up to get ready to race, and I couldn't feel my feet.  There would be no race for me today - so I assisted with the finish line.

Great fast group, 95 finishers.  After the event was over, and everything was packed up, I headed out and ran two-loops with Tips, both around 35 minutes I believe.

Mt Washington State Forest Marathon - October 2003
Riga Plateau, South Taconic & Appalachian Trails, MA, NY & CT

Sometime in October of 2002 - 2003, Tippi completed her first "Marathon" along the Mt Riga Plateau; it would also be my 26th.  We had the "Bandit" along for the adventure.

Our time was recorded as 5:38:00 over 24.7-miles.  I recall the end of the run taking forever once we descended Frissell and headed back to Mt. Washington State Forest Headquarters, as we might have diverted from the most direct track.

Maybe on top of Alander?

Intersection prior to Brace.

I believe this is the top of Brace Mountain.

The Bandit climbing Round Mountain.

The Bandit at the peak of Round Mountain.

The Bandit climbing Mt Frissell.

The Bandit climbing Frissell.

At the Tri-State Marker (NY, MA, CT).
