John Lee Hooker at Poor David's Pub on Greenville Ave, Dallas, with DL

Thursday, December 5, 1985

DL took me to Dallas, to the Arcadia Theatre, to see Three On A Hill open and X headline.

Great show, Dave Alvin was playing second guitar for this tour, with Tony Gilkyson as well.

Of course that meant no Billy Zoom...  which was a bummer.

First time seeing my favorite band of the eighties, thanks for the birthday present DL!

DL, our friend CC and I went to Reunion Arena to see Tina Turner.  Outstanding!

Thursday, September 19, 1985

Bo Diddley at Poor David's Pub in Dallas with DL.  The New Bohemians opened.

Monday, June 17, 1985

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts at Arcadia Theatre, with Flash Kahan opening, with DL

Thursday, May 30, 1985

DL and I visited the Arcadia Theatre to see:

  • Twisted Root
  • DC3
  • Black Flag

This would be the nicest venue I ever would see Black Flag in.

Sunday, March 3, 1985

North Adams Armory to see:

  • Tom Troccoli's Dog
  • St Vitus
  • Black Flag

Sound was bad, the vibe was weird.  Best memory was St Vitus sounding just like a Black Sabbath album, yet slower and more sludgy.

Thursday, August 2, 1984

Attended a show at the Sons of Italy in North Adams, featuring:

  • Saccharine Trust
  • October Faction
  • Black Flag

Black Flag opened up with "The Process of Weeding Out" and I really loved Ginn's guitar playing.

Thursday, April 19, 1984

DL and I drove to Williamstown, to the college, to see Waitresses and Gang of Four.

The Gang of Four were simply incredible, with as I recall "silence" where typically we would hear a guitar solo taking place.

DL and I would be taking the first of two summer trips to Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC), this time to hear:

  • Marshall Crenshaw
  • The B-52's

Unbelievable show by both bands.

Sunday, October 3, 1982

RPI Fieldhouse in Troy, NY with Stan K to see the Clash, with openers Khmer Rouge.

Great to see the Clash, but we were in the very last row of the ice rink, and the sound really was bad.  Recollection is that I could here guitar and drums, little else.  Big echo in that rink as well.

Awesome adventure.

We made it safely, without a map, and no real idea of where we were going.

We each had purchased suit-coats to where for the occasion.
