2022 Unsupported Trail Race Fall Challenge #1

Penwood State Park 10k (6.4-miles)

I have run this loop many times over the past 30 years, but I am not sure I have a great many times recorded.  This is ok with me, as I am just getting back to "normal" running after close to 5-months away.

I have it in my head that under 90-minutes is respectable for this loop, and I can recall a few finishes in the 95-minute range.  Today went much better than expected, with a GPS timed 1:22 and change for 6.4-miles, so I will call it 1:23:00 (I don't read seconds on my gps).

Course from Wintonbury, out on the Blue Blazed Metacomet (New England Trail) to the main parking area, and back on the Yellow Trail.

I Visited Noble View in Russell, Massachusetts today, a property of the Appalachian Mountain Club (and which I had never visited before for some unknown reason).

Managed a wonderful 8-miles with some exploring around the Little River.

Granville after a very busy day (including a minor medical procedure for DL).

Finished with 3.6-miles late, late afternoon.

Phelps Road North and Back for 3-miles. 

What Played in Ed's Head -- 

Music listened to for the time-period  March 1st through March 31st, 2022:

Up early, to visit the folks.

Stopped off in Windsor to run (6.5-miles).

• Savoy Hollow Road to the Snowmobile Trail down to River Road in Windsor State Forest.
• Through the State Forest Picnic Area (newly refurbished) and up along the Bumpus Trail to Notchview.
• Through Notchview on Whiteman to meet up with Bates Road.
• Back to the car.

Nice Easter Sunday Visit with the folks, with a ham and cheese sandwich.

Drove back to Connecticut and delivered Pop's Maple Syrup to K2.

Excellent Dinner with DL to top off the day.

Lots of Adventure for DL and I today...

Breakfast with TC & MC in Plymouth.

Drove to Clinton, Mass to visit with Chris, Chloe and Jessica (and the animals).  

Enjoyed a nice lunch in Clinton with the gang.

End of day, drive back to Connecticut.

Morning Run of 3.1-miles prior to a drive to Plymouth with DL.

Old Marathon News...

I was fortunate to run the 100th Boston Marathon on this day in 1996. 

It was my 10th marathon completed, in a time of 3:24:14.

Early morning visit to explore Granville, prior to work.  Finished 4.5-miles. 

Fourth visit for acupuncture at Healing Ways Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine.
